In contrast to the dark, guitar-based insanity showcased on "She Is Never Coming Back", the heart of "Sludge Butter" lies in the usage of electronic-centric instruments. An element of machine-like, drone-y noise is ever-present, which may be a manifestation of the basement in which the majority of this was recorded. The only lapse in this atmosphere is offered up with the EP's aptly titled (yet still effects-laden) halfway point, "Club Haze". However, the trademark loops and lo-fi style remains unchanged, and the "Sludge Butter" EP provides another look - from a different perspective - into the MUGEN psyche.
